Digital Nomad Initiative at John Dos Passos Cultural Center

The John Dos Passos Cultural Center in my family’s ancestral hometown in Ponta do Sol, Madeira (an autonomous region of Portugal) is serving its community with its new Digital Nomad initiative. On January 19, 2021, Travel + Leisure reported that “Phase one of the project will start on Feb. 1 and last through June 30, 2021. Participants will be provided with a free working space featuring a desk and chair, access to a Slack community, and free internet from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily at the John dos Passos Cultural Centre in the village.” I’m sure the economic activity generated by the nomad community will benefit the island, and the nomads will get to work a while in paradise. Win-win.
